The Big Newz
With all of the upsetting things occurring in our world right now, how do we pick a mission or decide what to focus on?
The answer for me came from turning inward, working on myself, learning what I was truly passionate about, and how I could use the platform I already have to do better.
Our planet is unwell.
Fast fashion is one of the biggest polluters in the world only second to oil. Globally, we now consume about 80 billion new pieces of clothing every year - 400% more than we were consuming just two decades ago.
The environmental impact of this behavior is significant: the clothing and textile industry is depleting non-renewable resources, emitting huge quantities of greenhouse gases and using massive quantities of energy, chemicals and water.
In addition, fast fashion companies aren’t fair trade certified meaning there are a lot of humans being exploited to make these garments at unacceptable pay rates in unacceptable conditions. (Statistics: www.fashionrevolution.com)
Moving forward, the store will be focusing exclusively on brands that are fair trade, eco-friendly, sustainable, and show awareness of their environmental and social impact. We will continue to carry new brands that follow these guidelines, as well as handmade made collections that will be designed and crafted through collaborations with talented woman who share similar fashion values.
We will also carry a special curated collection of vintage pieces. And as always we will continue to carry and grow our collection of unique gift and accessory items that are handmade and/or that follow the new policies we’ve put in place.
We the Dreamerz goal is to educate people on the value of shopping with more awareness, and help make it easy for you to embrace conscious consumerism by providing a shop where everything we carry upholds these standards.
I’ll be doing more posts and Facebook Live’s in the coming weeks to talk more on these changes and the new services we will be offering!
I’m so truly excited about this new shift. It feels like everything in my life is coming back into alignment.
I’m so grateful for all of you Dreamerz who have supported me throughout this journey and will continue to support me through this new movement.
